A popular hiking spot, Russian Ridge is a 3,137-acre preserve known for its spectacular 360-degree views of the San Francisco Bay and Santa Cruz Mountains all the way to the Pacific Ocean. Hawthorns is an old estate covering 79 acres in Portola Valley and is not yet open to the public. Volunteers at both of these preserves can enjoy the abundant wildlife in quiet surroundings while working to enhance the habitat.
