High School Youth Stewards at Stulsaft Park - Session #2

Join Grassroots Ecology for our high school Youth Stewards volunteer program at Stulsaft Park! We will work together over 8 weeks to explore and restore California woodland, creekside, and grassland ecosystems through planting, weeding, mulching, and more.

All participants must register themselves on this page for each session they will attend. Registration will open a couple weeks in advance of each meeting.

  1. Wednesday, February 25, 2026 (4-6pm)

  2. Wednesday, March 4, 2026 (4-6pm)

  3. Wednesday, March 11, 2026 (4-6pm)

  4. Wednesday, March 18, 2026 (4-6pm)

  5. Wednesday, March 25, 2026 (4-6pm)

  6. Wednesday, April 1, 2026 (4-6pm)

  7. Wednesday, April 8, 2026 (4-6pm)

  8. Wednesday, April 15, 2026 (4-6pm)

*Students have the option to arrive as early as 3:30 PM to receive an additional 30 minutes of volunteer service time.

Meeting Space: Enter the park through the gate at the lower entrance of Stulsaft Park at Recreation Way, Redwood City, walk to the left past the red "Stulsaft Park" sign, and meet at the native plant and animal mural/storage unit. Gendered multi-user and single-user restrooms, multiple drinking fountains, and cell service are available within the park.

Prepare for Outdoor Activities:

  • Reusable water bottle

  • Snacks, if desired

  • Long pants and long sleeves recommended

  • Sturdy closed-toed shoes

  • Hat/sunscreen or rain gear/boots

  • Epi-Pen or allergy medicine, if applicable

  • Plan for potential exposure to the sun, poison oak, ticks

We will provide gloves and tools.

Event Cancellations:

If we must cancel a workday due to extreme weather conditions or poor air quality, a Grassroots Ecology staff person will reach out via email no later than 5:00 PM the day before this event.

Grassroots Ecology encourages people from all identities and backgrounds to participate in our programs. Many of our programs are outdoors and involve moving and working in a variety of landscapes. If you have accessibility concerns (e.g. allergies, limited mobility, learning differences), our projects are flexible and we are happy to work with you.
