It’s time for our annual gear drive! When working outside to restore local ecosystems, it’s important to be prepared with the right gear for any situation. Help our incoming interns and AmeriCorps members prepare for field work by donating your lightly used outdoor gear!
We are looking for outdoor clothing and footwear for all genders, in all sizes, for all seasons.
Our needs include rain jackets, hiking/work pants, hiking boots, fleece jackets, outdoor vests and jackets, long sleeve hiking shirts, sun hats, and hiking gaiters.
Gear can be dropped off from 9 AM - 2 PM

Directions to Nursery in Foothills Nature Preserve
From I-280, exit onto Page Mill Road heading west into the foothills. Wind up Page Mill Rd for 2.5 miles until you reach the entrance of Foothills Nature Preserve (11799 Page Mill Rd). You do not need to pay the entrance fee. If there is a ranger, tell them you are going to the Grassroots Ecology Native Plant Nursery.
Please note our nursery is not open to the public, as we employ best management practices to ensure clean nursery stock. Thank you for understanding.
Enter the park (20 mph speed limit) and take the left fork in the road just above the lake. Continue past the large picnic grounds and Interpretive Center to the end of the road and picnic area. Park in the Oak Grove parking lot and walk along the gravel road that goes past the maintenance yard and the line of small redwoods, where the nursery is located behind a small chain link fence. A box for gear drive materials will be outside on Thursdays.
